linkaGoGo support for SyncIt

Now linkaGoGo provides server side support for the open source bookmark synchronization client SyncIt.
The SourceForge open source project BookmarkSync consists of a client SyncIt that you install on all your client PCs and a server component that needs to be configured on a web server.
LinkaGoGo now provides the server side support for the SyncIt client. This means you don't need to install and configure your own web server for the BookmarkSync server component.
With linkaGoGo you can immediately start synchronizing all your linkaGoGo favorites with PCs where you have SyncIt installed.
How does it work?
The SyncIt client runs in your system tray on your PC and tracks changes in your local favorites (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird). If a Favorite or Folder gets added / removed it will contact linkaGoGo to update your Favorites. The SyncIt client will also periodically check the linkaGoGo server for any changes from other SyncIt clients or that are the result of updating your bookmarks on linkaGoGo itself.
How do I set this up?
1. Subscribe to the Premium plan.
Buy the premium 'SyncIt' option. Click here to subscribe. The Premium SyncIt option is only $7.95 a year.
2. Backup your Favorites.
- Internet Explorer
- Backup the directory C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\Favorites for Windows 2000 and XP
- or C:\Windows\Favorites for Windows 95, 98 and Millenium
- and C:\winnt\profiles\{Username}\favorites for NT
- Netscape and Mozilla
- Backup the file C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\{number}.slt\bookmarks.html
- Mozilla Firebird
- Backup the file C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\{number}.slt\bookmarks.html
- LinkaGoGo
- Backup your online favorites with Download, choose the XBEL format and save the downloaded file on your PC.
3. Install the SyncIt client.
Download the SyncIt client (marked client-windows; preferably the stable version) from the open source project page BookmarkSync. Scroll down to the 'Latest File releases' table. Then click on the Download link for the package 'client-windows (stable)'.
4. Configure SyncIt.
You configure SyncIt to synchronize with the linkaGoGo server by clicking on this link(for Windows 95 or 98 click here) which will download a file that will update the SyncIt settings in the Windows registry.
If you wish to check the contents of this file before merging it into your registry, open it with Notepad before double-clicking. Once you're happy with the changes, double-click the file to update your registry.
5. Run SyncIt.
Now run the SyncIt application. On startup you will have to specify your linkagogo email address (it will be prefilled) and your linkaGoGo password. It will then give you the choice to merge your browser favorites with your linkaGoGo favorites or to override your browser's favorites with the favorites from linkaGoGo. Note if you want to run SyncIt everytime your computer restarts create a shortcut to the Syncit application in your Startup folder.
Have Fun. Oh and you can repeat these steps for any other PC you like to synchronize with linkaGoGo. (You can now skip step 1 :-)
